Yes, this is Labor. This is the Labor Party. They're meant to stick up for workers, and yet they'll do this.

I say to the 1.5 million pensioners who are going to be hit by this private health insurance change—I'm apologising to you from the Albanese Labor government. First of all, at the Expenditure Review Committee of cabinet, they would have said, 'Jeez, the budget's in a bit of trouble. We haven't been able to turn things around. We're heading towards a trillion dollars. We need money so we can keep our pet projects going. Who should we go after?' I don't know whether we'll hear it from any of the speakers on the other side; there don't seem to be many. But someone must have arced up and said, 'Let's go after the pensioners.'
