I'm very pleased to rise to speak on the appropriation bill. For those who are listening or watching, this is an opportunity for us to talk about how the government is spending your money—not its money, your money—where it's spending it and whether it's being spent properly. It's also about where it's not being spent, which most of my speech will be about. But I'm going to do something quite unorthodox. I'm going to start by complimenting somebody from the other side. That is the Minister for Health and Ageing, and it is in relation to the decision by the minister to backflip on a proposal to stop intravitreal eye injections from being claimable under private health insurance.
