by leave—I advise the Senate that Senator Kovacic has been appointed Chief Opposition Whip in the Senate. I also take this opportunity to thank our former colleague, former senator Askew, for outstanding service as Chief Opposition Whip. Wendy was a deeply valued colleague and friend, and, on behalf of the coalition, I thank her for her enormous contribution that she made to our Senate team and this parliament. We wish her well in her postsenatorial life.

Congratulations to Senator Kovacic, and I'm sure all of the chamber would endorse your comments about former senator Askew.
