SELECTION OF BILLS COMMITTEE

REPORT NO. 3 OF 2021

1. The committee met in private session on Wednesday, 24 February 2021 at 7.16 pm.

2. The committee recommends that—

(a) the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Save the Koala) Bill 2021 be referred immediately to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 2 December 2021 (see appendix 1 for a statement of reasons for referral);

(b) contingent upon introduction in the House of Representatives, the provisions of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Standards and Assurance) Bill 2021 be referred immediately to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 June 2021 (see appendix 2 for a statement of reasons for referral);

(c) the provisions of the Online Safety Bill 2021 and Online Safety (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Bill 2021 be referred immediately to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 11 March 2021 (see appendix 3 for a statement of reasons for referral); and

(d) contingent upon introduction in the House of Representatives, the provisions of the Social Services Legislation Amendment (Strengthening Income Support) Bill 2021 be referred immediately to the Community Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 12 March 2021 (see appendix 4 for a statement of reasons for referral).
