I inform the Senate that Senator Bob Carr, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, will be absent from the Senate today and tomorrow. As a result we have sought to allocate his responsibilities at question time. Senator Conroy will represent him in his Foreign Affairs portfolio and in his representative portfolio of trade and competitiveness with distinction; and I will represent him in his role representing the Minister for Defence; Defence Materiel; Veterans Affairs; and Defence, Science and Personnel.
