On 11 August 2026, I informed the Senate of the death, on 5 June 2026, of the Hon. and Reverend Professor Michael Carter Tate AO, a former minister and senator for the state of Tasmania from 1978 to 1993. I draw to the attention of honourable senators the presence in the chamber of the family and guests of former senator Michael Tate. On behalf of all senators, I offer my condolences and welcome you to the Senate.
