I'd like to acknowledge and thank all of the senators who spoke on the Aged Care Legislation Amendment (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Commissioner and Other Measures) Bill 2026. The amendment bill ensures that the Aged Care Act 2024 functions effectively and upholds the integrity of our aged-care system, maintaining its relevance to the evolving needs of older Australians. The bill establishes the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Commissioner, reflecting the government's strong commitment to meeting the ongoing needs and aspirations of First Nations elders and our commitment to addressing the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. I thank senators for their contributions to debate on this bill.
