The government will not be supporting this motion. We have well-established regulatory frameworks and robust mechanisms governing the development, manufacture, marketing and supply of therapeutic goods. These processes put public health front and centre whilst also balancing transparency with the need to protect commercially sensitive and confidential information. Requiring the publication of these documents would cut across that established framework and could create an adverse precedent that may discourage industry from bringing medicines to the Australian market.
