The senators who supported Senator Pocock on this motion are seeking to deny almost a third of this chamber the opportunity to do their jobs—to do their democratic responsibility on behalf of the people that they represent. We have a democratic right to represent our constituents as well. We have a democratic right to participate in this chamber too. I have a right to ask questions, and there has been a longstanding convention in this place which should have allowed me to. I have an important question to ask.
