The government will not be supporting this motion today. The subject matter for this order for the production of documents covers matters that could prejudice Commonwealth-state relations and international relations. The Commonwealth supported the recent visit by the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and makes significant efforts to facilitate the subcommittee's access to places of detention. We encourage the subcommittee to resume its visit and will continue making efforts to that end.
