Housing affordability is a huge issue for many Australian families. Not being able to buy their home is part of the problem, but renters are also struggling, especially if they're on welfare. Modelling from SGS Economics shows that there isn't a single property in inner Hobart, Sydney or Melbourne that is affordable for a person on Newstart. Loan guarantees for first home buyers aren't nearly enough. What is the government going to do to make a difference for Australians who are struggling to keep their heads above water?
