What we have just witnessed is this government not supporting the people of Victoria. In voting against this motion, they have damned the people of Victoria, and it is an absolute indictment on them. The East West Link is a key infrastructure project for the people of Victoria and it has been identified by the RACV as the No. 1 project for the people of Victoria. It is a project that will change and improve the productivity of that state and make a real difference to the people, in particular to those who live in the eastern corridor.

It is a matter of great regret that the members for Bruce, Chisholm and Deakin—that is, Alan Griffin, Anna Burke and Mike Symon—have not lobbied the Prime Minister to fund this project. It is a disgrace. (Time expired)
