I did not realise that Mr Turnbull had received a cheque, but thanks for letting me know. Let us be clear: the government’s stimulus package delivered—it delivered to this country a cushion for the global financial crisis. Those opposite continue to dig their own grave—and one for Mr Turnbull because of his failed economic position. It should be very clear to them by now that they have got this dead wrong. The Australian public, the business community and the international community all recognise that Australia’s response to the global financial crisis was the model that other countries should have followed if they wanted to avoid going into recession, because that is exactly what we did. The education spending package, the infrastructure package and the cash payments to individuals to allow retail spending to survive through that period have all been acknowledged internationally.
