I think it is unfortunate that, despite how important this legislation is in ensuring that we go some way to ensuring that same-sex couples are given the same entitlements as opposite-sex couples in de facto relationships, we cannot guarantee this for people who have their superannuation tied up in private funds. I remind the Senate that that is almost 90 per cent of the Australian population.
