We are on the cusp of a massive data centre invasion across regional Australia. The tech billionaires think our country communities are fair game, and parliament is asleep at the wheel. I was out at Stubbo near Gulgong, where Firmus wants to drop a colossal data centre that will devour enough electricity to power hundreds of thousands of homes, but the unanswered questions here just keep piling up—zero answers on where the water is coming from, zero protection for our productive agricultural land, zero protection for the environment, public safety and privacy and zero say for our country communities. The tech bros are rolling in it while these mega projects are threatening our way of life and driving up power and water bills.

That's why I introduced my AI Kill Switch and Data Centre Control Bill 2026 to this House. We need an immediate halt to this unregulated rollout and a ban on these data centres until our laws catch up to protect the public and our regional communities. Parliament and the political parties of this nation need to wake up and act before it's too late. Our country communities are demanding action and there has not been enough of it in this House. We need to act now and bring these data centres under control because the future of our country communities depends on it.
