On Tuesday night the Treasurer delivered a political budget that was an act of political desperation in the final hour before an election, not a plan for the future of all Australians. If you want to understand the character of this government, though, you don't need to watch the budget; you should watch the Senate. Three Liberal senators—members of the Morrison government—spoke in an adjournment debate, and things got pretty wild.

Senator Antic was spreading his latest right-wing extremist conspiracy theories about the World Economic Forum, Marxism and the Great Reset, which the Anti-Defamation League and many others have warned is rife with anti-Semitism. Then there was Senator Renick, who spent five minutes spreading antivaccination conspiracy theories, demanding Australia stop vaccinating people against COVID-19. The Morrison government doesn't call out antivaxxers; it welcomes them into the Liberal Party room. Then, of course, there was Senator Fierravanti-Wells, who described the Prime Minister as 'not fit to be Prime Minister' and someone who has 'no moral compass'. She joins a long line of Liberals, like the former Premier of New South Wales and the Deputy Prime Minister, who have revealed the true character of this Prime Minister.

This government is a joke. If it's not spreading extremism and conspiracy theories, it's attacking each other instead of looking after the future of ordinary working Australians. Do not risk another decade of this rabble of a government. It is well and truly time to elect a better government for a better future, an Albanese Labor government.
