During question time, the Minister for Home Affairs said that in 2014 Labor opposed measures which strengthened the character test at a point in time where I was the responsible spokesperson for the Labor Party in relation to immigration. At that point in time, Labor supported measures to strengthen the character test and, indeed, the principle piece of legislation in 2014, the Migration Amendment (Character and General Visa Cancellation) Bill 2014., was absolutely supported by Labor in this House and in this parliament.
