Today I'd like to acknowledge the 25th anniversary of the Minchinbury Jets junior rugby league club. In 1994 the Jets emerged from the need for a local club to support an under-11s team. Prior to the club's creation, players had to travel to Parramatta or Penrith to join a team. Over its rich 25-year history, the Minchinbury Jets have provided an opportunity for almost 10,000 local kids and families to be part of a local sporting community. They've got a ferocious reputation in the league, having participated in 93 premierships, with 2019 set to be no different.

I recently attended the 2019 launch of the Minchinbury Jets junior rugby league club. It also marked the official opening of the club's purpose built grounds at Federation Forest, Mount Druitt. Hundreds of children and families from all backgrounds joined together to celebrate the vibrant history and bright future of the club. Those players at the launch follow in the footsteps of past Jets who've gone on to play for Penrith and other NRL teams. I'm sure that the new home fields at Federation Forest will continue to be the training ground of champions.

I also wish to take the opportunity to thank the Minchinbury Jets committee and all the volunteers for their tireless work, which has resulted in the launch of another successful season. I wish the players, coaches, team managers and parents who cheer on from the sidelines all the best for the remainder of the 2019 season. I'm proud to continue my support of the club for another 25 years of successful premierships.
