I am making a statement today in light of the incident that occurred on Tuesday during question time. A person in the public gallery attempted to disrupt proceedings in the House and was promptly removed from the chamber. I want to personally thank the parliamentary security staff for their professional handling of the situation, and also take this opportunity to thank staff of both the Department of Parliamentary Services and the Department of House of Representatives for their diligent and conscientious work. I know honourable members join me in their appreciation of the excellent work of both departments in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the parliament.
