I will not detain the House for long in debating this. I simply point out that these were the recommendations of the Procedure Committee. I think they are good recommendations and I congratulate the Procedure Committee on making them.

Despite the consternation my presence in the House seems to engender on government benches when I appear at this time of day, I am actually here to support the motion moved by the Leader of the House. I also forward my congratulations to the Procedure Committee. I spoke on these changes in some detail in the Main Committee this week. I think that they are changes that improve the standing orders. Most particularly, these changes bolster the rights of members, in their capacity as private members, to make contributions on their electorates in the Main Committee in their capacity as having served on delegations and the like, so consequently these changes do have our support. I thank the Procedure Committee for their work and I thank the Leader of the House for bringing these changes to the House as quickly as this.

Question agreed to.
