World Teachers' Day
Zhi Soon Banks, Australian Labor Party
1:37 pm
Tomorrow, 30 October, is World Teacher's Day here in Australia, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the incredible teachers and educators across my electorate of Banks, and indeed all across our great country, for the incredible work that they do. It's the early childhood teachers and educators, including more than 700 in my electorate of Banks, who are benefiting from this government's decision to fund a historic pay rise, meaning their skills and work are reflected not just in rhetoric but in their pay packets as well. It's the teachers in primary and secondary schools who are getting the resources they need as a result of this government's decision to put every single public school on the path to full funding. And it's the vocational education teachers at our TAFEs, whose students are able to get qualified without the burden of student debt as a result of fee-free TAFE. I say to all of the teachers across my electorate of Banks and all across this country: you do incredible work and at times very difficult and challenging work educating our next generation. We sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for it.
