In Dunkley, we know how much our community relies on the people who care for us, support our families and stand beside those doing it tough. That's why the government is delivering a pay rise to 460,000 workers in female dominated industries. For too long, people working in health, disability, domestic violence and community services have been underpaid and undervalued, despite the enormous contribution they make to our community. As the member for Dunkley, I know these workers are the backbone of our many local services. They deserve more than our thanks; they deserve fair pay, recognition and respect—and that is what we are delivering.
I met with the Australian Services Union and the Health and Community Services Union, and have supported their campaign to see these changes through. We're increasing pay in female dominated industries, delivering six months of paid parental leave and making record investments in women's reproductive health. These are deliberate choices that make a real difference to women, families and communities across Dunkley. Progress for workers doesn't happen by chance; it happens by choice—and we are choosing to keep moving forward and support workers that support those most in need.
