Sturt Electorate: Michelin Guide
Claire Clutterham Sturt, Australian Labor Party
1:40 pm
Australia finally has restaurants that have been awarded Michelin stars, and my electorate of Sturt is home to three of them. Earlier this month, 11 venues across Adelaide were awarded a coveted star, but Magill Estate Restaurant was the only venue to be awarded two. Magill Estate is beautiful. Set in the foothills, the views down to the city are spectacular. The service is outstanding, but, of course, it is all about the food and wine. My husband and I go out for Christmas dinner every year, and, even before the recent announcement, we had decided on Magill Estate this year, having enjoyed a beautiful lunch there several months ago, but, now, we're struggling to get a booking, and that is a good thing for the restaurant.
In today's climate, supporting hospitality must be at the top of the agenda. If I can't get a booking because Magill Estate is at capacity, I will try arkhé located on The Parade at Norwood or Esmay located on Hackney Road, both of which were awarded one Michelin star each. The aesthetics at arkhé and Esmay are stylish, contemporary and chic, and my advice to those who are thinking of eating dinner at either restaurant is not to eat any other meals during the day, because you will want to have room to consume every last morsel presented to you. South Australia's hospitality scene is world class, and the electorate of Sturt is leading the way. Heartfelt congratulations to Magill Estate, Esmay and arkhé.
