On Monday the Treasurer challenged business leaders to tell him where government should cut costs. It did not take long for them to come up with some suggestions, but isn't identifying waste and controlling spending literally his job? Australians shouldn't have to do the Treasurer's homework for him. They deserve a government that can manage its own budget, one that doesn't pass the bill onto its hardworking taxpayers.

The coalition will do just that. We will cut Labor's wasteful spending, axe Labor's toxic taxes and tackle the cost-of-living crisis head-on. We will stop Labor's assault on aspiration by introducing our tax-back guarantee, backing small business and ensuring Australians are rewarded for their hard work. We will deliver cheaper, more reliable power by scrapping net zero and making Australia an energy superpower. When oil prices spike, our fuel price shield will save motorists 27c a litre or around $50 per tank. Australians deserve a government that lives within its means, backs those who work hard and gives families a fair go. The coalition will get spending under control, ease the pressure on households and restore the opportunity so Australians can get ahead.
