I'm pleased to report that the Noarlunga Aquatic Centre is on track to reopen this summer. The Albanese Labor government has made significant investment, along with the Onkaparinga Council, to ensure that this swimming pool can come back to life. Of course, the centre was facing serious challenges. It had not had a redevelopment for decades, and without major works this pool would have been closed, disappointing so many community groups, schools and local residents that use this important swimming pool. We partnered with the Onkaparinga council, and this pool is set to open. It is an example of the great local community investment that this government does for important infrastructure. I would also note that there is more work coming, with the grant that was provided to both the Cove Sports and Community Club and, importantly, the South Adelaide Football Club, as an investment in women's facilities there. The Panthers are both immensely successful, but the women's team particularly are having a lot of success on the field.
Speaking of the South Adelaide Football Club, I did want to actually mention a wonderful volunteer who has hung up her volunteering. I want to acknowledge the contribution of Maxine McPherson. Maxine is known well across the southern suburbs of Adelaide for her unmatched energy, enthusiasm and her willingness to volunteer for others. For more than 75 years, Max has devoted herself to others, from fundraising to build a kindergarten in Aberfoyle Park, raising millions of dollars for community organisations to, of course, her work at the South Adelaide Football Club. She is truly remarkable. It would not be right of me to not also acknowledge her role on the Christmas carols committee at South Adelaide. She usually hits me up for a donation in February for the Christmas carols coming up in the year. Her passion and commitment to bring joy to our community is just wonderful. She really is an absolute treasure to our local community. She, together with so many other volunteers, make a huge difference.
As we go in to the Christmas period, we in my office make a call for donations to support those doing it tough in our community. I'd just like to acknowledge Flagstaff Hill Primary School, who have made a huge donation to help others. A big shout out to them. Thank you very much, your donations were very much appreciated by our community.
