Well, I think all of us would rather we did not have to have a motion of this nature today, particularly for Dr Helen Haines, yet here we are. And I want to acknowledge all the excellent contributions today. I want to begin by first extending my thoughts and prayers to Helen and her family, friends, staff and community. As we've heard from many of the members across the parliament already today, Helen is widely respected by all of us. She is a fierce advocate for her electorate of Indi and for our regions more generally.
When tragedy occurs, people often exaggerate the positive attributes of the victim. Let's face it: you rarely hear someone get up and say, 'Oh, that bloke was an idiot' or 'We didn't like that lady very much.' That's just human nature. But we all know in this place that, in Helen's case, all the positive words that have been spoken by us today and will no doubt be spoken for many hours, until maybe 10 o'clock tonight, are true. We all know that the words that are spoken here that are positive about Helen are true.
