Can I say, Speaker: the opposition's very excited by the census. It's good to see!

The census will showcase the diversity of our great nation, in occupation, gender, religion, culture or country of origin. I am proud that our party and our side of parliament is broadly reflective of who we are in this country.

It has been five years since the last census, and a lot has changed in that time. Can I acknowledge the hard work, over a long period of time, of the assistant minister for Treasury, who has worked for many months on this project and helped to deliver such an important thing.

To conclude, the census is an important document for our nation, and I encourage everyone in our great country to complete it this evening.
