Paid Parental Leave Scheme

Tomorrow marks 1 July, the day that eligible families will be able to get up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, backed by this Albanese Labor government. Families accessing the full entitlement will receive almost $30,000 across their paid parental leave. This is more than double the entitlement available to families before Labor came to government. Meanwhile, the Liberals, the Nationals and One Nation don't seem to have such a positive view of the working Australian family. In 2017, Senator Hanson claimed that women will get pregnant to access paid parental leave. Just recently, at the National Press Club, she asked, 'Why should a business pay them if they're not at work?' And we've seen the member for Goldstein say, 'It's not my choice that women have children; it's genetic.' This is what the three right-wing parties have to offer Australian families. While they tear down and belittle working Australians, Labor is backing Aussie families every step of the way.
