My question is to the Minister for Aged Care and Seniors. The minister has repeatedly claimed that there were 'around 87,000 people waiting for a home-care package as at 31 March'. But, moments ago in the Senate, the government admitted that the waitlist crisis has worsened significantly. Senator McAllister confirmed that as at 31 July there are almost 109,000 elderly Australians waiting, another 20,000 in the queue. When did the minister or his office become aware of this number, and why didn't he provide it to the House?
