Can I thank the member for his question. The referendum later this year is about constitutional recognition through a voice. It's not about anything else. Later this year, we will all be asked a simple question, and it will go like this: do you support a change to the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice? The referendum is to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through a voice. Those opposite are trying to muddy the waters. The role of the Voice will be to provide advice on how best to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people—advice on things like health, education, jobs and housing. It's about constitutional recognition that gets concrete results.
