I recently had the privilege of meeting the Logan Dementia Choir. The choir was recently formed for those living with dementia in my electorate and across the City of Logan. However, the group also extends to supporting spouses, families and friends of those living with dementia. Most in this place would know what an insidious disease it is. Currently there are around 2,000 people with dementia across the City of Logan, and it is a cause close to my heart, having seen the impact on family members.

The Logan Dementia Choir was started by Ross Wiseman. His own diagnosis made him spiral into depression and question his own self-worth. Ross ended up losing his drivers licence and independence but not his passion for the community.

The Logan Dementia Choir focuses on reminiscence therapy, which helps those with dementia through music and also photos. After singing a few tunes, I was told they were on the hunt for new members but they wanted those with better voices! So, if you know somebody who wants to get involved, you can search for Logan Dementia Alliance on Facebook. I'm looking forward to the first performance by the Logan Dementia Choir at Memory Lane Cafe Underwood this November.
