Last week I attended a MTC graduation ceremony where I saw 21 students who had completed the Skills for Education and Employment program—SEE for short. SEE is a program that caters for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and has the goal of helping them find a job and engage more effectively in their work and study. MTC SEE is a training and upskilling program designed to help individuals build their skills and the self-confidence they need in order to find a job they want.

In Fowler we know that 70 per cent of my community speak a language other than English and, therefore, the SEE program provided by MTC is very important for the community. I said to them that this program is important for getting a job, building confidence, helping with mental health and also providing for their families. That is why I'm grateful for community training centres like MTC, because they create pathways for advancement through the education, employment, numeracy and literacy support programs for people from disadvantaged and non-English-speaking backgrounds.

I congratulate all the graduates of the MTC SEE Cabramatta program. I believe that, if we support and educate people, we empower them to create a better future for themselves, their families and our community.
