I was delighted recently to be able to support a number of community groups in my electorate of Menzies to obtain grants under the Stronger Communities Program: the clubroom fit-out of furniture and kitchen equipment for the Macedon Blues soccer club; CCTV camera equipment for the Templestowe RSL; a defibrillator, ride-on mower and gardening equipment for the Doncaster Bowling Club; car park resurfacing at the Manningham Tende Beck Scout Group; two commercial fridges for the Templestowe Football Club; gardening equipment for the Doncaster Community Gardens; an electronic scoreboard for St Davids Cricket Club, an oval that's used by many other sports as well; an air conditioner for the Wonga Park Country Fire Authority; the purchase of equipment for the Eltham Sea Scouts; the construction of a shelter over a seated area for the Whitefriars Football Club; an electronic community noticeboard for fire warnings—something very important—for the Kangaroo Ground Country Fire Authority; tables and chairs for the Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Park; a grant to the Nillumbik Shire Council; another grant to the Nillumbik Shire Council for the upgrade of public bathroom amenities at Research Park; and carpeting for the op shop at the Rotary Club of Manningham. These are all very worthwhile projects undertaken by very important and vibrant community groups in Menzies.
