This year has not been without its challenges for everyone in the community. Many have lost their jobs and some their livelihoods, while others have been separated from loved ones. In the face of these challenges, I'm incredibly proud of how our community has come together to support one another. That's why the federal government has launched the Go Local First campaign, encouraging Australians to go local first when purchasing goods and services, to help small and family businesses get back on their feet. Now more than ever, Australian small businesses need local communities to back them and support their recovery. These are the businesses that support our community organisations and sporting clubs, provide jobs for locals and ensure our regions have the services we rely on. Over Christmas, when you're buying your presents for loved ones or sourcing food for the family table, make sure to buy from local small and family businesses. By choosing local businesses, you're keeping money in your local community, helping the local economy and supporting local jobs. My ask is simple: I encourage everyone in my electorate of Barker and on the greater Australian continent to actively support this campaign—to do whatever they can to help our fantastic small and family businesses to get back on their feet—by going local first.
