I thank honourable members for their contribution to the debate on this bill. The Legislation Amendment (Sunsetting Review and Other Measures) Bill 2018 improves and streamlines the operation of the legislative framework for Commonwealth acts and instruments. These amendments contribute to the government's regulatory reform agenda by ensuring that Commonwealth laws are up to date, are clear and align existing legislation with current government policy. The key purpose of the bill is to implement those recommendations of the Report on the operation of the sunsetting provisions in the Legislation Act 2003 that require legislative action. The bill also makes minor and technical amendments to the Legislation Act and the Acts Interpretation Act to clarify their operation and resolve inconsistencies. I thank the members for their contribution and commend this bill to the House.

Question agreed to.

Bill read a second time.
