Carbon Pricing

My question is to the Prime Minister. I remind the Prime Minister that the most recent determination from the New South Wales pricing authority clearly states that the carbon tax makes up 80 per cent of all recent increases in electricity prices for Integral Energy customers. With customers of Integral Energy in western Sydney already hurting due to the rising cost of living, why is the government hitting them with a carbon tax that forces up prices but does not reduce Australia's greenhouse gas emissions?

This claim is similar to Greg Hunt's from 16 August 2012.

The 80% of recent increases in electricity prices does sound worse than it is. But it is a percentage of a percentage. Prices increased between 12% to 15% overall which includes the carbon tax plus general price increases.

Markus' claim is in fact 80% of 12% to 15%. On average the carbon tax on electricity represented around a massive 2 cents/kwh?

Others like Wyatt Roy even claimed that for one business the cost of "...off-peak power has increased by 80 per cent as a direct result of the carbon tax" on 21 August 2012.
