I rise to support the remarks of the Prime Minister and to support, on behalf of the coalition, the decision by Western governments including Australia's to expel Syrian diplomats. It is clear that the Syrian regime is waging war on its own people and there is absolutely no excuse ever for the indiscriminate slaughter of unarmed civilians. Our objective must be to secure a democratic government in Syria that respects the rights of all its citizens and lives in peace with all its neighbours.
