to move:

That this House:

(1)
condemns the failure of the Federal Labour Government to honour its promise to reform the structure of superannuation for Veterans and Commonwealth superannuants; and
(2)
recognises the rights of retired Australian Defence Force personnel to a fair, equitable and just pension indexation method, consistent with their service to the Australian nation.

As a Vietnam Veteran I of course support Michael Johnson's attempts to lift the benefits of returned servicemen and women.
I would point out however, that when he was a Liberal government member, (he is now independent) he did little or nothing on this issue that I can recall.
Also, in Australia, Labor is spelt Labor not Labour which is the UK spelling of it's party.

A great many ex-service personnel and verterans will watch the progress of this motion with great interest. I wonder how many politicians realise the amount of sentiment there is in this issue.

We are NOT asking for charity in any form, we ARE asking for equity.
