to move:

That this House:

(1)

recognises the important and critical role that Australian nurses have played in active service as part of Australia’s wartime effort;

(2)

recognises that Australian nurses have cared for the sick, wounded and dying during wartime for over a century starting with the Boer War of 1889;

(3)

acknowledges the courage and compassion that these nurses displayed with some making the ultimate sacrifice; and

(4)

congratulates the Port Noarlunga/Christies Beach RSL for its efforts in commemorating Australian wartime nurses by establishing the first RSL based memorial dedicated to nurses killed during wartime.
