On indulgence, the coalition supports the actions of the government in responding to the official request from the government of Fiji to provide humanitarian assistance for those in Fiji affected by the recent cyclone. We understand that the Australian government and the New Zealand government are coordinating the effort. We note that to date the Australian government has offered $1 million in practical assistance, such as tarpaulins and water equipment and the like, and we assume that the government will be monitoring the situation should more aid be required, in which case we assume that the minister will return to the House or put out a statement to that effect.

Our condolences go to those who have been affected in Fiji by the destruction and devastation of the cyclone.
