My question is to the Prime Minister. I refer the Prime Minister to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s annual report 2008-09, which states that the processing times for offshore refugees ‘continued within the service standard of 75 per cent of applications finalised within 52 weeks’. Will the Prime Minister confirm that the government does not normally provide offshore processing for asylum seekers within the timeframes the government has offered to those on board the Oceanic Viking?
