to move:

That the House:

(1)
notes that in a world of great wealth, hundreds of millions of people experience terrible poverty and that:
(a)
more than 800 million people are malnourished;
(b)
30,000 children die every day from preventable disease;
(c)
500 women die every day from treatable pregnancy-related complications; and
(d)
more than one billion people live on less than one dollar per day; and further,
(2)
believes that Australia should make a greater commitment to the achievable targets set out in the Millennium Development Goals in an attempt to eliminate world poverty. (Notice given 20 June 2007.)
