I want to briefly take the opportunity to welcome the initiatives that have just been outlined by the Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads. As many members in this place would be aware, there has been much discussion over many years about how we can improve public amenity, particularly in the Parliamentary Triangle and also around the Lake Burley Griffin area. The works that have been referred to by the minister for territories I know will be very welcome. Our national capital committee has not had an opportunity to look at them in detail, but that is not a concern. I am of the view that these works will be welcomed and I thank the minister for the encouragement in relation to the moving of the motion. I look forward to seeing the works completed.
