I give notice that, on Monday, 14 August 2017, I shall move:

That the following matters be referred to the Senate Standing Committee on Environment and Communications to report back by Tuesday, 5 December 2017:

(a)   the ongoing integrity of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, with particular reference to allegations of theft and corruption in management of water resources in the Murray-Darling Basin;

(b)    the failure of authorities, including the New South Wales state government;

(c) the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to investigate and publicly disclose reported breaches from within the Murray-Darling Basin;

(d) the use of Commonwealth-owned environmental water for irrigation purposes, and the impact on Basin communities and environment;

(e) the operation, expenditure and oversight of funds in the Water for the Environment Special Account; and

(f) any other related matters.
