My question is to the Prime Minister. Budget Paper No. 2 states that the bank tax will raise $6.2 billion over the forward estimates. Is that $6.2 billion before or after the banks claim a tax deduction?

The $6.2 billion refers to the receipts for the Treasury from the bank tax, as the honourable member fully understands. That is the calculation that is set out in Budget Paper 2, in accordance with the standards that applied throughout all the terms of the Labor government and, indeed, of governments beforehand.
