I rise to recognise two high achieving athletes in my electorate of Bennelong, one with a name that is famous in tennis and another with a name that will become famous in tennis. Amy Court, an 11-year-old grade 6 student from Epping North Public School, is a track and field star. At a recent school carnival Amy came first in the 100-, 200- and 800-metre races as well as the high jump and long jump, setting records in each event. She has been chosen to represent New South Wales in a trans-Tasman tour to Auckland, and my office is assisting her in raising funds for the trip.

Matthew Tanza, a 15-year-old year 10 student at Epping Boys High, is a rising star of the tennis court. He has already represented Australia in European competitions over the last three years. Last week I played tennis against Matthew. Time has hurt my performance and he showed me exactly how far I have slipped. I maintain that the game was closer than the score indicated—but how close can 6-0 be! I trust that these two young stars will enjoy just competing and participating in sports and all that that brings with it.
