Sadly, one in three households in Australia have experienced food insecurity over the last 12 months, which is a terrible situation. The Prime Minister, last sitting period, assured Australians that he was doing 'everything', through his government, that he could, to help Australians struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. And to that I say, 'Really?'
I did a bit of deep-diving into where some of our money is going, and I found a whole heap of fairly informative grants that might be of interest to the Australian people. I wonder which of these the Prime Minister would pull, in order to put some food on some Australians' tables. I'll start with this one: 'Intercultural protocols for sustainable human activity in outer space', for half a million dollars. Here's another one: 'Addressing long-term climate displacement in Australia' for half a million dollars—not much food going on table with that one! There's 'Change the date? Australia Day, reconciliation and the politics of division' for a cool $1.48 million; that's a lot of dinners for Australians right there. The next one is: 'Malnuda Burra Yina: Gabra Stories of Yorta Yorta Fruit Picking' for $1.4 million. Wow! There's 'Innovating a new framework for Indigenous-led climate adaptation strategies' for $500,000. There's not a lot of food going on the table there. What about 'reducing gender inequalities for women with psychosocial disability', for half a million dollars, Prime Minister? What about this one: 'Informal sexuality and civics education pedagogies of LGBTQ+ youth' for half a million dollars? There's not a lot of food going on the table for that one, Prime Minister.
