I will now deal with the Committee of the Whole amendments circulated by the Greens. The question is that, in schedule 1, items 2 and 4 to 6 and part 2 stand as printed.

The Australian Greens opposed items 2 and 4 to 6 and part 2 of schedule 1 in the following terms

(1) Schedule 1, item 2, page 3 (lines 20 to 23), to be opposed.

(2) Schedule 1, items 4 to 6, page 4 (lines 1 to 9), to be opposed.

(3) Schedule 1, Part 2, page 5 (lines 1 to 8), to be opposed.

I will now deal with the Committee of the Whole amendments circulated by Senator David Pocock. The question is that Senator David Pocock's amendments on 3231 be agreed to.

Senator Pocock's circulated amendment s

(1) Schedule 1, item 17, page 13 (after line 26), at the end of section 9B, add:

(5) In performing its functions under paragraph (1)(a), the Monetary Policy Board must give equal consideration to the matters set out in subparagraphs (1)(a)(i) and (ii).

(2) Schedule 1, item 56, page 24 (after line 21), at the end of section 25AB, add:

(3) A person must not be appointed under subsection (1) unless the person is:

(a) selected for the appointment as a result of a process that includes:

(i) public advertising of selection criteria for the position; and

(ii) assessment of applications against the selection criteria by an independent panel consisting of at least 3 members, including at least 1 member with expertise on the impact of monetary policy on people experiencing economic disadvantage; and

(iii) shortlisting of at least 3 persons for the appointment who are certified, in writing, by the panel to meet all of the selection criteria; and

(b) one of the shortlisted candidates.
