Senators will be aware that the Australian Human Rights Commission is conducting an Independent Review into Commonwealth Parliamentary Workplaces, led by the Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Kate Jenkins. The review is open to all people who currently work or have previously worked in parliamentary workplaces around Australia. The review is in its information-gathering phase, and it is critical the review is informed by a wide range of perspectives and experiences of workplace culture, whether positive or negative. Everyone is encouraged to participate, no matter what your role is. Members and senators should encourage their staff to participate. Written submissions close on 31 July. Interviews will be conducted over the next five weeks, including in Canberra during the first sitting week in August. Correspondence has been sent to all MPs and senators on how to participate and to all current staff in the Department of Finance and parliamentary departments. If you would like any further information or have any questions concerning this review, further information is available via the Australian Human Rights Commission and its website.
