I inform the Senate that the former President of the Senate, Stephen Parry, received a letter from Senator Xenophon on 31 October 2017 resigning his place as a senator for the state of South Australia. Pursuant to the provisions of section 21 of the Constitution, the President notified the Governor of South Australia of the vacancy in the representation of that state caused by his resignation. I table the correspondence.
